4:26 p.m. - 2006-03-15 So first these companies allow our jobs to go abroad, next it will be our credit-card numbers. In all UK operations, the argument that outsourcing costs jobs at home still has political significance. But it is making way for another issue: that India cannot offer the standards of privacy and data protection that consumers expect at home. This obviously cause some issue and concerns. Companies will certainly need to be very careful when sending data outside Europe, and may in some case need to get explicit consent from the customer before they do anything at all. This aside the appear to have been very few documented issue with data being miss used in India. The complaints are more related to the poor services. Irrespective of all these big institutes outsourcing the staffing issues to India to save money, there is a lot to be said about Outsourcing in the UK. Cap Gemini is probably the biggest and most well known Staff outsourcing company in the UK. So this brings me nicely on to my own dilema. How does it feel with the threat of outsourcing withing my dept ?
